Gunman Stephen Paddock opened fire from his Hotel room onto crowds 32 floors below him at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in Las Vegas.

Facts

• 59 people confirmed dead.
• 12 in critical condition.
• 527 people injured.
• Gunman Stephen Paddock, murdered himself at the scene.
• No apparent connection to terrorism.
• Paddock had been staying in the hotel room since September 28.
• Two off-duty police officers are among the dead.
• 42 weapons were found in Paddock's room.
• The attack started at 10.08pm.
• About 20,000 concert goers were attending the music festival.
• The attack is the deadliest mass shooting in US history.
• Marilou Danley (Paddock's girlfriend) left for the Philippines two weeks ago & has been cleared by the FBI of any involvement.
• Paddock held no strong religious or political views.

What was his motive?

There was a suggestion by police early on in their announcements that "they have evidence to believe that Steven may have been radicalized" however LVMPD later clarified that this was not the case. Some conspiracy theorists believe the FBI was putting pressure on the LVMPD to denounce any connection to ISIS, so as not to cause widespread panic. People are also sceptical of his brother, who appeared to show no remorse when interviewed outside his residence. It's a matter of time before the truth comes out but for now we don't have any real evidence that suggests this is anything more than a narcissistic, violent, evil individual.
